Applications for the 5th Award (2012) officially closed on 31 January 2012. Nominations were received from 50 countries, with many countries represented by multiple nominees. More applications to the Prize were completed for the present award than at any time in the Prize's history.
The Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water was a sponsor of the International Water Week in Amsterdam, which took place from 1-4 November 2011 and which, for the first time, brought together three events: Aquatech, Integrated Aqua Solutions, and three scientific conferences under the umbrella of Aquaterra.
The Council for the Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water (PSIPW) held its first meeting for the Prize's 5th Award on Sunday 13 March 2011 in Amman, Jordan.
The Arab Water Council held its 6th Board of Governors Meeting in Rabat, Morocco on 22-23 December 2010 under the sponsorship of H.E. Eng. Abdelkebir Zahoud – Morocco’s State Secretary for Water and the Environment.
With the conclusion of the 4th Award (2008-2010), the Prize Council convened to review the achievements of the past two years and confirm the winners for the 4th Award.
