The Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water was a principal sponsor for the 2009 Biennial Groundwater Conference which was held from 16-18 November at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West, South Africa.
On 30 October 2009, the Council for the Prince Sultan International Prize for Water held its first meeting for the Fourth Award of the Prize in the city of Delft in The Netherlands.
At the generous invitation of His Royal Highness, Prince Willem-Alexander, Prince of Orange, the Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water (PSIPW) held a Prize Day event on 30 October 2009 in Delft, The Netherlands.

The Prize attended the fifty-second session of United Nations' Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) which was held in Vienna, Austria from 8 to 12 June, 2009.
