HRH Prince Khalid Bin Sultan, the Prize Council Chairman, and Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Secretary of Defense, declared the Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water to be an important part of his father's legacy.
He pledged his commitment to see the Prize continue into perpetuity and grow to new heights.
He was speaking in Riyadh on 16 March 2012 at the second meeting for the Prize's 5th Award.
This was the first meeting held for the 5th Award since nominations closed on 31 January 2012. It was also the first meeting to be held since the passing of the Prize’s Founder, HRH Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
HRH Prince Khalid said about his father: "This meeting carries a special meaning for us. We feel acutely the loss of HRH Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz. It is a loss for Saudi Arabia and for the world."
He added: "He was not only my father, but my mentor and guide. I am committed to the continuation of all my father’s good works, both within Saudi Arabia and abroad. I assure you, speaking on behalf of all of Prince Sultan’s heirs, that the Prize will continue to develop and grow to realize my father’s dream of making a substantial contribution to solving the world’s water problems."
The Prize Council proceeded to discuss the activity schedule of the Prize up to the Awards ceremony which is scheduled for December 2012.
