Conference Objectives :

To enrich the awards ceremony of the Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water with related scientific activities.

To explore the use of new technologies in the study of arid and semi-arid environments and their natural resources.
To provide an opportunity for decision makers, experts, and scientists in the Arab World to share their expertise in order to find integrative and comprehensive solutions for water resource problems in the region.

Sedimentation control in surface water systems.
Exploration and assessment of ground water resources.
Innovative methods and systems in desalinization and the Arab experience. with desalinization and its economies.

Theme VI. Management of Water Crises in the Arab World

Transboundary water resources and international treaties.
Examples of shared aquifer management between countries and the danger of external ambitions on Arab water.
The Arab experiences with establishing cooperative systems for organizations concerned with water crisis management.
Principles of calculating virtual water to avoid possible water crises.

Deadline for Submitting Abstracts:

Abstracts must be submitted on or before Wednesday, 30 April 2008.

Deadline for Submitting Full Papers:

Full research papers must be submitted on or before Wednesday, 3 September 2008.

Travel, Transport and Accommodation Costs:

The conference organizers will provide hotel accommodations and breakfast during the four days of the conference only for participants presenting papers accepted by the conferenceأ¯طںآ½s scientific committee.
Transportation will be provided between the airport, hotel and the conference venue.
Economy class airline tickets will be awarded to the 30 participants whose papers are selected as the best by the conferenceأ¯طںآ½s scientific committee.
The conference organizers will not bear any expenses for conference attendees who are not presenting scientific papers.

No registration fees are required.

Instruction for Participants:

Extended abstracts no more than 1000 words in length should be submitted to the conferenceأ¯طںآ½s scientific committee in English and in Arabic for papers written in Arabic. The abstract should address the objectives, methodology, and most important conclusions of the research. The title of the research should be stated. The authorأ¯طںآ½s name should be given without any associated titles, followed by the institution the author is affiliated with, as well as the author's mailing address and e-mail address.
The abstract and the full research paper must be submitted in Microsoft Word format. They may not be submitted as PDF files.
The papers should be formatted in A4. The title for both the abstract and the full research paper should be given in bold using a 14 point Arial font for the Arabic and a 12 point Arial font for the English. The body of the work should be written in the same font of the same size without bold formatting. The text should be single-spaced and all margins should be 3 cm. Titles and headings should not be underlined.
There should preferably be no more than five key words.
A table should be displayed on a single page if possible.
Generic names and species epithets should be given in italics.

Abstracts must be submitted by e-mail. Full research papers may also be submitted by e-mail. They may alternatively be written to disc and mailed by post to:

Candidates for the Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water are welcome to submit their papers to the Conference.
Papers submitted to the Conference for acceptance must not have been previously presented at any other conference or published in a scientific journal.
